Howdy, It’s been a while. Trust you are doing good!
If you could do one thing, profoundly without the thought of ever failing. What would you do?
I've come to realize that most times the reason people don't get started is that they are scared of failing, which incapacitates them from acting.
The fear of failing on its own, shouldn't be what stops you from doing what you are supposed to do. Most times, this fear comes as a result of we being unprepared
When you are prepared for something, there is less tendency to be afraid of failing. For instance, when was the last time you didn't take your bath because you were scared of failing? Doubt you ever had this fear.
No sane person gets scared of failing at bathing. You don't get scared; you just go in and take your bath. You probably have done it your entire adult life that it has become a routine.
But it wasn't always like that. There was a time the thought of taking your bath scared you; I still don't understand why children dread baths. Can you remember the first time you took your bath on your own? They probably laughed at you or kept correcting you. Pointing to areas you didn't touch. Even though you failed the first couple of times, that didn't stop you from bathing.
Today, you would agree with me that you don't even think about it anymore; bathing has become part of you. Well, I hope it has.
The same principle applies to start something new.
Doing something you have never done before is scary. There's always this fear that you're not good enough; there's always this fear that you wouldn't be able to achieve: the result that you're gunning for.
However, if you take a step backward and ask yourself, why am I scared? What's the real reason behind this feeling? Have I done this thing before? If you haven't done it before, then why are you scared?
If you have not done it before, means you've not failed before. So since you've not failed at it previously, why do you have the belief that you will fail?
This is a point we all go through. It's normal with everybody, it's not just you. I as well have gone through this phase. I have been scared to do certain things only for me to realize that there's actually no reason to be afraid. That momentary feeling of fear vanishes the moment you start that task.
Even if you fail, you can always get back from failing. In fact the best lessons I've learned where in the process of failing. Fear teaches you more than success ever could.
Take walking, for example, you have to fall in order for you to learn how to walk. You need to feel the pain of falling in order for your brain to register that you have to keep walking in order not to fall. But if you hold on to the fear of falling and refuse to start walking, you will only remain on the floor longer than you should.
When you see life from the angle that failure is necessary for you to be stronger; failure is a part of this journey. In an event that it’s needed for you to get the best out of it, you will see failure, from a different light, you wouldn't see it from the angle of. Oh no, I don't want to fail. Rather, you see it as essential for your growth.
Have this in mind, keep striving towards getting the best out of every situation. By all means, do not let failure stop you from doing what you should do.
If you fall, it's fine. But don't stop doing what you have to do. keep doing it and eventually, you will get the results that you always dreamed of.
Just don't let failure hold you down.
Later today, I would be sending another mail your way. Do share your thoughts.
Rooting for you.
